July Crafts

 I found the time for some crafting this month, in addition to the fair and numerous weddings and showers.

This afghan was made for a friend from highschool who had a baby girl a month ago. It was made using the Delectable shell pattern and Lion Brand Homespun yarn.

I also made several burp cloths and two matching pacifier clips.

I have started on projects for our baby. This is the quilt top and I am currently working on hand quilting it and will post pictures when I get closer to being done. I am also working on a carseat cover and blanket as well as an afghan.

The baby recieved it's first present in the mail today. The socks are sooo soft and adorable.

Christmas Scarves

This Christmas I made a bunch of scarves. The kids requested them and they are also quick and easy gifts.

Here are the scarves that I made this year.

This is a simple chevron granny pattern made out of Lions Brand Homespun.


I found this ruffle scarf pattern online, though I can't seem to find it now. I should have increased the number of stitches more so that it had a better ruffle to it. The purple yarn was from grandma's stash and I bougth the varigated off of a clearance rack.


This is a simple granny block that has been sewn together made out of leftovers from other projects.


This is the Drop Stitch Scarf Pattern as found on Ravelry. It is my first completed knit project and was very easy.


I made it with Lions Brand Homespun yarn using an adaptation of this pattern that I found on ravelry. I mad a second version of this scarf that I didn't get a picture of out of Lions Brand Wool Ease in charcoal and dark red.

Pre-Christmas Presents

Now that Christmas has come and gone I will do a couple of posts of what I made to give this year.  I'll add some more after we celebrate with Jason's family on the first.

This year I participated in a ornament exchange on the nest craft board. This is the pair of ornaments that I created for the exchanged. The person I made them for recently got married and loves mermaids.

This scarf was made for my mom's family Christmas exchange. Though it appears to be black and white it actually purple and white since the majority of my cousins are K-State fans. I made it with Lions Brand homespun yarn using an adaptation of this pattern that I found on ravelry. It was a hit and stolen a few times.

This is a work in progress that will be one of projects that is shown off after the first. As you can see I've been cutting it a little close on the thread. 

I'll post some of the projects that I gave away on Christmas next.

More Babies

I finally found a night that I was home early enough to take pictures of the afghan I finished. I found the yarn for this at Hobby Lobby on clearance. It turned out to be one of the softer afghans that I've completed. I ran out of the pink and had to use white for the border but I really like how it turned out. After playing with several different ribbon colors Jason and I decided that we liked the wine ribbon that was left over from our wedding. I decided to give this one to the neice due in December since we aren't certain if it will be a niece/nephew in March. I've also had another "family" baby to add to the crafting list due in April.

I also finished a few more pages in the 2009 scrapbook and almost done with the year. I have two Christmas' and New Years Eve left to do an then I need to print pictures and finish the wedding in October. For this layout I used my new Chomas Gel Pen holder to write the title.

I've started on a quilt to match the afghan above using this pattern. I love mixing and matching patterns so I usually go purchase my fabrics at the local quilt shop, Joanns or Hobby Lobby and cut down rather than purchasing precut fabrics as most of Moda's recipies call for.

This was a piece that I found that I thought would be great for a quilt especially as the child grows older.

This is the pile of trash otherwise know as "quilt vomit" At this point the pile is still growing.

I've currently have finished squaring up my blocks and I am ready to sew the strips together.

This past weekend I also taught myself to knit and have started a scarf for my niece for Christmas using this Ravelry pattern. Check back in for progress pictures of my quilt and my attempt at knitting.

Bad Me

So I've been horrible at posting again this month. Typically I don't post when I haven't had time to do anything but I've got a lot done in the last week. I've even done a pretty good job of taking pictures. The problem has been taking the time to get them uploaded.  To keep this post from being a book I'll limit the commentary but please feel free to leave me a comment if you have questions.

Here are a couple of the scrapbook pages that I've completed. I into December of 2009 but need to go back and finish an October wedding now that I have pictures.

Saturday, I took my neices and nephew to the local October Festival Parade.  

I finished this afghan for a potential nephew. We are not sure if my sister-in-law is going to have a girl or boy so there is a girl afghan in the works too just in case. 

The next three are for my neices and nephew for Christmas. I still have one more to make.

DONE!

This is one of the many flowers that my new hibiscus is producing this week.

I got to end a very busy Saturday this week celebrating my neice's first birthday! She really enjoyed the frosting on her cake. She actually licked her high chair after they took the cake from her.

The last couple of weeks I have been working on several projects. I completed my first afghan and my first quilt. Both will be gifts for new babies.  I've started on a blue version of the afghan and will probably attempt another quilt in the next month so that I am prepared for whatever my sister-in-laws have.

I started the quilt on Monday and completed it in a little over a week. It is about 30"x35" and the afghan is closer to 36" square. I need a little more practise before I produce perfect quilts but it turned out really good considering that it was my first and I haven't sewn anything since high school.

I'm now working on a "boy" afghan as well as several scarves requested by my nieces and nephew. Keep checking back in for more projects.

Rainy week

It has rained everyday since I last posted. Hopefully it will stop soon so that it can dry out for harvest.

This last weekend was again busy. Friday night I went to the play at the Great Plains Theatre in Abilene with mom. Saturday morning I had to work and then I went with dad to Grandpa's house to cut thistles out of the pasture. We worked on Thistles from 1:30 until 7:30. Sunday morning Jason and I went to Arianna's Babtism. Unfortionately I didn't get any great picts. Sunday afternoon I went in to the Smoky Hill River Festival and met up with my Mother-in-law Mary Katherine and Savannah and Caden.

Since it was rainy Sunday, Jason put a new ceiling fan in our bedroom.

Monday I came home to this surprise.... my second daylilly has started to bloom. I can'  wait to see what color the thrid plant is!

This Friday, I have a bridal shower for a very dear friend. Since I'm in the wedding and throwing her bachelorette party I decdided that I would make her a few things for this shower. The first thing I made was a set of cards for her. There are 6 total with her new last initial.

This is part of her next gift. It is a quilled monogram that I am going to turn into a wall hanging. I got the idea from this blog. Unfortionatly it didn't picture very well. It's really dark purple and light purply pink. I'll post pictures when it's totally finished.

Mother's Day

After spending a great day out at mom's with the all of my grandparents, I sat down to fix the invites that I finished this week... Yes, I said fix... I left out a word. Luckily it was relatively easy to pull the backs off and reattach new ones. Then I made one of the cards that I need this month. This one is for my cousin's graduation.

Long time

It's been a while since I've posted. I've been busy. We finished painting the kitchen and are starting to put it back together.

I completed 30 invites for a neighbor's 50th Anniversary. They weren't exactly what I would have designed but she loved them.



I made 25 of these for my cousin's bridal shower. They will be mailed by the end of the week.



And I completed several scrapbook pages.









Hopefully it won't be as long until my next post.

Lots of Progress

After a Wednesday night thunderstorm, we got into work to find that both the server and the network switch had been fried by lightening... You never realize quite how much you use the internet and computers in general until they are unuseable... Luckily I has several meeting scheduled for Thursday and didn't spend very much time in the office. Unfotionately there was not a network switch in town so any hopes of internet access on Friday looked bleak. Luckily we just had a shipment of greenery and pots to keep me entertained. Here are a few of the arrangements that I made before we got internet access hooked back up about 4:00. This week we are waiting to hear a final diagnosis for the server and hopefully will be able to function realatively well even though we will not have access to the majority of our files... including all of our AutoCAD files. I'll keep you posted on how that goes...

This weekend after working my 1/2 day Saturday, I put a coat of paint on the kitchen cabinets and got a ton of scrapbooking done. Here are several of my layouts.
